Supertone and Spotify's merch hub

Spotify has launched a new merch hub, delivering personalized recommendations based on each users’ listening habits. While merch was previously only available by searching a specific artists page, this new hub aims to curate options from several artists in one dedicated place- with purchases facilitated by Shopify.

Noting that the period after last year’s ‘Spotify Wrapped’ campaign was the platform’s highest grossing merch week, the launch comes at a good time as 2023’d wrapped is expected to launch end of October.

In February of 2021, HYBE began investing in an AI voice synthesis startup called Supertone- without prodigy much context on their intentions with the platform. Fast forward to 2023, HYBE artist Midnatt was able to use the technology to release his single “Masquerade” in six different language translations- improving his pronunciation and intonation to sound more like native speaker.

Looking to overcome language barriers as he released his new music, Midnatt stated, “When I would listen to music in other languages, I couldn’t immerse into the music as well as in my native language, and we were talking about how we could overcome [that].”
