KennyHoopla, touring as a small band, and Portola's founder on his 'mad scientist' approach to designing the lineup

KennyHoopla’s conditions of an orphan// is the Cleveland musician’s second EP of 2025, following the release of ‘Rebirth // Renaissance’ earlier in the year. Produced alongside Zac Farro and Mike Elizondo (Turnstile, 50 Cent), its five tracks see the genre-bending artist take on the nostalgic sounds of the 2000s dance-punk scene.
“This EP was about acknowledging trauma and where I am at ‘right now’ as opposed to my whole life story… I think it’s one big funeral after-party. It touches on the death of friendships, family, vices, and the piece of me this industry took away – it’s a stream of consciousness of all of that, all while I try and find a way to dance through it. Most importantly, though, this EP is just as much for the listeners as it was for me while creating it. I want people to feel like they are in love for the first time again. I want people to dance while they cry. I want them to feel the way I do when I listen to my favorite artists.” -Rock Sound
