The big news of the week is that TikTok and UMG have agreed on a new licensing deal. As UMG and TT “work expeditiously” to get Universal’s 4 million songs and 3 million recordings back on the platform, they are expected to complete this process within the next two weeks. 

Following research showing that hardcore music can help plants grow, Spotify has announced their new playlist ‘Hardcore Gardening’ and an apparel collaboration with Brain Dead called “Plant Growth Through Extreme Noise.” 

To commemorate 10 years of its annual Concert Week program, Live Nation is offering $25 tickets to more than 5,000 shows. Fans in the US and Canada can purchase tickets through this program from May 8-14 for select shows. 

UK grime artist Stormzy has teamed up with Adidas on a new center for music, soccer and gaming. Dubbed ‘#MerkyFC HQ,’ the Croydon-based location will “help give the community access to new facilities including a brand-new hub, housing [soccer fields], a state-of-the-art recording studio, a sports gaming hub and multipurpose rooms.”

In an effort to address the ‘Zero Plays Problem’ faced by many new artists, Souncloud is launching a new feature called ‘Buzzing Playlists’- a “set of playlists curated based on fan engagement with music by Next Pro artists.” 

Live event production company Rock Lititz has announced a brand new 55-acre campus in Nashville. Set to open in 2025, the facility will include rehearsal space for everything from club/theater-sized venues to arena and stadium-level production.
