Multi-channel music brand Mahogany has announced the launch of a DIY distribution service for artists. Mahogany Songs will “provide digital distribution and bespoke artist services with an emphasis on human curation and communication.” Artists participating in the program will have access to tools, funding, and promotional assistance across the Mahogany ecosystem- which includes their video series Mahogany Sessions (930k YouTube subscribers).

The US Justice Department has filed a civil antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation and its subsidiary Ticketmaster. Per the lawsuit, the DOJ asserts that Live Nation has monopolized and used unlawful conduct to hinder competition in entertainment markets. It goes on to say that the goal of the lawsuit is to “restore competition in the live concert industry, provide better choices at lower prices for fans, and open venue doors for working musicians and other performance artists.”
