Chelsea Wolfe is giving us life by delivering not one but two new singles — her first new songs since last year’s “Mean” collaboration with HEALTH.
First up is “Death is Not the End,” a transformatory track that begins with lithe piano musings and a contemplative, existentially curious and gently whispered vocal from Wolfe (“I keep hoping death is like the ocean /And I’m floating”), but erupts into a soul-exploding kaboom of mood-rock guitars.
The track finds Wolfe and longtime collaborator Ben Chisolm working alongside former Nine Inch Nails guitarist Robin Finck and session drummer Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, Fiona Apple). -Revolver
