Lockimara, UMPG’s new brand identity, and an oral history of VH1’s golden years

If you enjoy ear — whose Rumspringa received our Album Of The Week honor last month — then listen up. Lockimara is the project of New York-via-Toronto artist Nicholas Gay, who's providing a similar brand of dreamy electronic earworms. Last month he announced his sophomore album Only Sun, Only Moon and shared the lead single "December," and now he's back with "Tastes Like."
"'Tastes Like' is one of the songs I'm most proud of on the album, for the risks and rewards I think its unconventionality carries. It's a personal song that attempts to encapsulate my feelings of powerlessness and resignation surrounding my 20s," Gay explains. "It also doesn't have any discernible lyrics for the first minute and a half of the song, making it a write-off by most industry or pop metrics. Breaking and pushing these metrics of what can be considered 'pop' or 'accessible' is something I'm always trying to focus on."-Stereogum
