Between the superstar artists and starving artists exists the “middle class” of artists- those who “count their streams in the millions, and occupy the space between obscurity and superstardom.” This class appears to be on the rise per a recent Luminate report which stated the number of artists racking up 1-10M on-demand audio streams rose 5.1% from the previous year; with a 5.4% increase for those with 10-50M streams. Also noteworthy, of the artists with 500+  million streams during the first half of 2024, 9.9% of them had indie distribution- up from 7.1% the previous year.

Making good on its commitment to the creative scene, Irish whiskey brand Jameson has launched a new global music program called ‘Distilled Sounds.’ Kicking off with artist/producer Anderson .Paak, the multi-year initiative “will connect more than 20 musicians from different regions to collaborate, produce, and perform new sounds together.”
