With rising consumer debt and reduced spending among young people likely on the horizon, record labels’ strategy of monetizing superfans might be more challenging than anticipated. “In the United States, the ratio of credit cards and auto loans becoming past due by 90 days or more exceeds pre-pandemic levels. Delinquency rates are especially bad for younger consumers who are most likely to spend money on concerts and entertainment.” According to a February McKinsey survey, consumers are intending to spend more on essentials like gas and groceries, and less on discretionary items like entertainment over the next three months.

Opening later this month, take a look inside Masnchester’s Co-op Live, the UK’s ‘biggest and most sustainable arena.’ Powered by a combination of renewably sourced electricity and a massive field of on-site solar panels, Co-op Live is set to be the UK’s first and only 100% electric arena. Along with a roof designed for harvesting rainfall to be used for watering plants and flushing toilets, the arena also hosts air-souce heat pumps, reusable cups, and food sourced from nearby vendors.

As concerns over inflation impact the markets, music stocks are seeing their worst week in nine months. Of the 20 companies in the Billboard Global Music Index, 14 lost value this past week.
