Over the weekend, the mysterious music collective SAULT released a surprise album in the form of a 32 minute single track. Announced via a tweet and cryptic image of a tv screen, the album is only available as a downloadable wav file.
As concern over unapproved AI-created recordings increases, YouTube has updated its privacy policies to allow users to request takedowns of AI-generated content that simulates their voice/appearance. Interestingly, the removal of a video does not count as a “strike” against the uploader that would normally incur discipline as the platform considers this a violation of privacy guidelines rather than community guidelines. Additionally, the platform requires a “first-party claim,” meaning only the person whose likeness is being synthesized can file a takedown request.
